Intro

GTA Online gameplay loop revolves around making a lot of money and then spending it on facilities, businesses, vehicles and weapons. To get the fanciest weapons of them all, one needs the weapon workbench, which may be hard to come by.

Normally, a workbench requires a multi-million investment since it’s tied to Kosatka, Agency, Bunker & MOC or Nigthclub & Terrorbyte. Thankfully, there are two additional ways to get access to Mk. 2 weapons without buying any of the aforementioned properties or vehicles, one of which is completely free.

The only free weapon workbench in GTA Online

To get free access to a weapon workbench, you will need to activate the Freakshop. This is the headquarters for the Fooliganz, who are normally not of particular interest.

In order to activate the Freakshop, you will need to complete First Dose 1 – Welcome to the Troupe. For new characters, this mission will be located in Sandy Shores in the northern half of the map, on one of the “R” icons, which appear as Ron Jankowski’s markers.

You will know you are in the right place if you arrive in front of the Ace Liquor store.

Enter the blip, see Ron getting beat up and do the mission for Dax. By the time you complete it, you will have arrived in a large warehouse in Los Santos where Fooliganz will set up the Freakshop. You gain access immediately and the weapon workbench will be there, free to peruse.

Semi-free workbench

Another workbench that doesn’t require explicit payment is the one in the Arcade. This property is useful since the Casino Heist is fairly lucrative and as soon as you choose the gunman for the heist, the weapon workbench will be available. While you’re not paying for the workbench itself, the Arcade property is fairly expensive which is prohibitive for a fresh player and not as attractive as the aforementioned Freakshop.
