Intro
Delta Force is going to get a pile of new content in Season 2, named Operation Starfall, but the things most of us will notice first are the new area, maps and weapons. Here is a quick rundown of what to expect in each of them.
New Operations area
Technically, it is just a new area for the existing Zero Dam map in Operations. Zero Dam Underground features a veritable maze of underground tunnels and players can enter through numerous entry points on the surface.
This addition happened because the map was crowded in the early game and was found annoying by the players who were hoping to extract with something instead of risking it all at the very beginning. With the additional areas, there will be a higher chance of survival.
New Warfare maps
While we’re on the topic of Zero Dam, Warfare mode is getting a new map at the top of the dam, from which the players can glance the parts where Operations take place at its base. This map is called Knife Edge and it’s another infantry-only map, following the introduction of Shafted during Season 1.
Train Wreck, on the other hand, will be a regular Warfare map that will feature vehicles. If you wondered what the deal was with the operator hammering an area and building a sandbag cover, this is it. Players will be able to build covers on certain parts of Train Wreck which should prove an asset for defenders but it it remains to be seen if it will ruin the game’s pace.
New weapons and gadgets
There is a total of 3 new weapons coming in Season 2:
- SR9 assault rifle
- QCQ171 SMG
- QJB201 LMG
It is currently unknown which classes will get the new weapons, other than the LMG since it’s exclusive to Engineers.
SR9 is closer to a battle rifle or even a DMR so it’s likely to end up in Recon’s pockets since sniping with the likes of Vyron or D-Wolf doesn’t make much sense. However, it could provide them with more mid-range capability.
New gadgets include:
- HE Grenade Launcher for Assaults
- Smoke Launcher for Supports
Supports already have a lot of smoke coverage but the addition of this gadget could herald a future operator that doesn’t have inherent tools to create visual cover.
HE GL for Assaults has impact grenades and seems to be more specialized in vehicle destruction, rather than anti-infantry antics. With this gadgets, Vyron will probably become the ultimate anti-vehicle tool.
While these are our personal highlights, you can check out a total of 25 new things coming with Season 2 on The Beard Guys’ channel.
