Intro
Larian announced they would launch the final major patch for Baldur’s Gate 3 in early 2025 and it will bring 12 new subclasses for players to enjoy, along with cross-play and photo mode.
Photo mode
Photo mode is exactly what you expect it to be – a tool to capture fancy screenshots you wouldn’t be able to during ordinary gameplay. This includes action shots and silly situations, like the one pictured below.

As you can see, there are also other effects you can add, as depicted in the various tabs of the photo mode UI.
New subclasses
A total of 12 subclasses will be added, one for each class.
- Bard
- College of Glamour – allowing the Bard to enchant allies with temporary health. If they get attacked, the attacker can get Charmed.
- Barbarian
- Path of Giants – Additional Strength and size when using Rage. Throw bigger things and throw them further.
- Cleric
- Death Domain – Can explode corpses and deal increasing damage the lower health their target has.
- Druid
- Circle of Stars – Druids get 3 in 1. Their Wild Form changes to Astral Form, offering 3 options that specialize in healing, damage buffing or straight up damage dealing.
- Fighter
- Arcane Archer – Archery with controlling magic. This can range from blinding enemies, to banishing them for a turn.
- Monk
- Drunken Master – Inebriate yourself and enemies. Drunk enemies are easier to hit and you gain Constitution buffs. Or sober them up prematurely for extra damage.
- Paladin
- Oath of the Crown – A bit of a commander subclass, focused on supporting allies.
- Ranger
- Swarmkeeper – Just as the name says, you get to control swarms of bees, moths or jellyfish. Each offers different debuffs for enemies but all of them feature teleportation.
- Rogue
- Swashbuckler – Get in close and get out unscathed thanks to dirty tricks that prevent enemy opportunity attacks, disarm or blind them.
- Sorcerer
- Shadow Magic – Teleport between dimly lit or unlit places, summon a shadow doggo, cheat death and gain superior dark vision.
- Warlock
- Hexblade – Utilize magic weapons, kind of like with Pact of the Blade, and raise the enemy corpses that deal necrotic damage and heal you at the same time.
- Wizard
- Bladesinging – Mix up swordplay with magic to make yourself sturdier and bring pain down on the enemy.
Cross-play
PC, Mac, Xbox or PlayStation, it doesn’t matter. Everyone can play together, provided the feature works properly, that is. All of this will be handled by Larian Network so the experience should be smooth at some point in time.
Stress test start date
Stress testing is planned for January 2025 but the sign-ups will start before that. Keep an eye out for news in case you want to hop in before the patch officially drops.
