Intro

Stalker 2 is a couple of weeks away from release and the developers are now confident enough to reveal the preorder bonuses which are quite interesting. While we find them rather enticing, we are still generally against preorders on digital goods. That said, we can only offer information or advice, it is you who decides what to do with your money in the end.

Preorder bonuses for Stalker 2

Stalker 2 preorder bonuses will include:

  • Unique Vintar BC(VSS Vintorez) nicknamed “Veteran”
  • “Tourist” Suit which appears to be a variation of the Sunrise Suit from the series
  • “Stalker” Backpack, a unique backpack model with the Early Bird Patch
  • Additional stories and music around stalker campfires

While the rewards are hefty, they don’t appear to be game breaking in any way for those who don’t preorder so kudos to GSC for finding a way to keep both groups happy.

Veteran will feature an installed Geiger counter to warn the players of radiation pockets which hints we will not have it equipped at all times by default. This is reminiscent of certain mods from previous games where we would have to equip a specific radiation measuring device before we are able to hear the clicking sound. For example, in Radiophobia 3, the radiation will silently creep up without warning unless you equip an item that includes a Geiger counter and anomaly proximity detector. It might work similarly in Stalker 2.

According to the description, the Tourist suit will have additional carry weight by default. Usually, armor needs to have certain upgrades to allow more carry weight or additional artifact slots so this one will probably come in handy until we get to loot a Bulat suit or an Exoskeleton.

Backpacks are another bit that was introduced to the original trilogy through mods. Stalker 2 will utilize that feature but the preorder item doesn’t appear to have any bonuses and the difference is only cosmetic since it has the Early Bird patch.
