Intro

Stalker games featured a standard selection of weapons across all three games so far, with new instalment adding something something of their own, even if it’s just a new variation of an existing weapon.

Stalker 2 has already confirmed several returning weapons, showcased some new ones and introduced the name of one such rifle in the latest teaser.

Returning weapons

UDP Compact is a high-end sidearm in Stalker games and in Call of Pripyat, its unique version was probably the best sidearm in the game. Stalker 2 will see the return of this legend and judging by the short gameplay teaser below, it will be able to shoot faster, without the artificial delay between shots.

SVDM-2 is basically the same sniper rifle stalkers are already used to. Big, clunky, highly precise and even more powerful, this weapon’s stopping power usually comes second only to the Gauss Rifle.

GP-37, the Stalker equivalent of H&K G36, is a top of the line assault rifle, although in some past instalments, it wasn’t as desirable as assault rifles that could mount a grenade launcher. That said, real life G36 is perfectly capable of that and with the extended weapon modifications in Stalker 2, it’s possible this killing machine will also feature boom boom power.

New weapon

Introduced as “Dnipro”, this bullpup assault rifle is the equivalent of Fort-221, which is itself built on the license for IWI Tavor. Interestingly, it sports a name of the type that is usually reserved for unique weapons. One would expect it to be named something along the lines of “Fora-221” since “Fora” is the in-game equivalent of the real life RPC Fort, a Ukrainian weapons manufacturer.

In any case, it is great to see the arsenal expanding as Stalker 2 promises to be bigger than its predecessors.
