Intro
DEFECT has just received a reveal trailer and a Steam page, allowing potential players to wishlist the game.
It features music from Mick Gordon, the brilliant mind behind DOOM 2016’s amazing soundtrack as well as that of DOOM Eternal, although it was butchered by Bethesda and id Software.
About DEFECT
Players will be fighting in a dystopian cyberpunk setting in a city controlled by AI. From the trailer, the gameplay seems rather similar to that of DOOM although we won’t know exactly until we try out properly.
DEFECT will be a multiplayer game, allowing players to go at it in co-op or fight each other in PvP modes. According to the description, it will pit 4 teams of 4 against each other which should put an interesting spin on the established formats.
Those teams will consist of different factions, including The System’s policing force, Rogue Police Elements or one of the gangs vying for power. All of them will be able to utilize high tech weapons and gadgets to achieve victory.
Mick Gordon and DOOM
One of the selling points for DEFECT is the fantastic soundtrack since Mick Gordon just keeps hitting the nail on the head. Those who played DOOM Eternal might disagree since some of the tracks seem a bit off, which is the result of id Software having someone else come in and “mix” Gordon’s tracks.
This was the culmination of a horrendous management streak at id Software that resulted in Gordon getting the short end of the stick multiple times which prompted him to expose the repugnant affair in 2022.
Thankfully, it seems Gordon is doing well after the id and Bethesda fiasco so here’s hoping to DEFECT being the next big thing.
