Intro

Elden Ring: Shadow of the Erdtree is full of difficult bosses and Promised Consort Radahn is hailed as the most difficult one to ever sprout in a FromSoftware game.

Thankfully, he has a glaring weakness in Scarlet Rot which can be exploited ad nauseum. I’m not sure who came up with it first for the DLC but the first instance I witnessed was in Fermyon’s video.

Build

My own build is just a variation of Fermyon’s.

Stats

Rune Level 150. Scadutree blessing level 18.

Endurance	50
Strength	51
Dexterity	15
Intelligence	Minimum / No points added
Faith	12
Arcane	16

If you are higher level and have excess points, dump them into Strength up to 80. If you have even more points afterwards, go for Arcane for some Blood buildup scaling.

If you are lower than level 150, prioritize 60 Vigor and 50 Endurance.

Gear

With the ridiculous amount of VFX that Radahn ruins your frame rate with while spitting out lightning-fast attacks, it may be best to forego dodging entirely.

As such, the gear I found my success with is as follows:

  • Antspur Rapier +24
  • Black Steel Greatshield +25 (+24 is fine)
    • Put Vow of the Indomitable on it
• Armor set
  • Solitude Armor
• Talismans
  • Greatshield Talisman
  • Green Turtle Talisman
  • Erdtree’s Favor
  • Milicent’s Prosthesis
• Consumables
  • 14 red potions
  • Flask of Wondrous Physick
    • Opaline Hardtear
    • Crimson Bubbletear

Blood infusion on Antspur Rapier to proc big damage from time to time, doesn’t matter which Ashes of War. If Hewg can’t infuse it with Blood, you need to find the Black Whetblade.

I used Black Steel Greatshield because it’s the best one I had on hand. Most will work just fine. Golden Greatshield and Fingerprint Stone Shield are also fantastic options. More importantly, grab the Vow of the Indomitable Ashes of War for the shield.

Solitude Armor set is optional but since it’s given out by the first boss in the DLC, there is no reason not to use it. Verdigris set and Radahn’s set from the base game are good alternatives.

Some people make it work without Greatshield Talisman but I wouldn’t go into the fight without it. With lower stamina consumption while blocking, you get enough resources for extra hits with the rapier.

Green Turtle Talisman is just too good. Don’t ever take that thing off.

Erdtree’s Favor in my inventory was the base one so if you have +1 or +2 version, it will be even better. More stamina, more hits, more procs.

Milicent’s Prosthesis is mostly there to meet the Dex requirement for Antspur Rapier. If you have 20 Dex but not the talisman, you can go for Spear Talisman, Winged Sword Insignia, Rotten Sword Insignia or even Blood Lord’s Exultation.

Promised Consort Radahn fight and video guide

Most of the fight consists of you holding the shield up while poking Radahn over it.

You will have to learn Radahn’s move set to know when you can let your shield down and let the stamina regenerate.

When he goes into the air and spawns multiple comets, wait for them to start flying towards you and then cast Vow of the Indomitable to negate their damage entirely.

When the phase switch occurs, pop the Flask of Wondrous Physick.

During Phase 2, Radahn will sometimes do a mini jump with a distinct animation. When he does this, dodge to avoid the grab. You can make one mistake since nothing bad will happen and your stamina will regenerate. On second grab, you lose the fight immediately.

When he jumps off screen, he will do the meteor attack. As soon as you spot him in the sky, run to the side to dodge (most of) the damage. Alternatively, you can be a gigachad, look the meteor straight in the eyeballs and cast Vow of the Indomitable.
