Intro

SMITE 2, the obvious successor to the beloved original MOBA game of the same name (minus the number, of course), is getting a third alpha in mere days!

Players can expect to see a game roster beefed up with the addition of Hecate, Thanatos, and The Morrigan. Those taking part in the alpha will also be asked to give their feedback so the devs can implement the palyers’ suggestions into a future iteration of SMITE 2.

SMITE 2 third alpha details

SMITE 2’s third alpha weekend will kick off on June 27, 2024.

The roster for the third alpha will include Hecate, Thanatos, and The Morrigan.

Hecate’s inclusion into SMITE 2 was announced at the SMITE World Championships back in January. Since then, the devs have made a couple of major changes to the goddess of a bunch of different things. According to Wikipedia, she is variously associated with crossroads, night, light, magic, protection from witchcraft, drugs, the Moon, graves, and ghosts.

As of right now, her toolkit is mainly focused on opening portals and generally tarnsporting foes and allies alike all over the map. Her ultimate ability has the potential to wreak absolute havoc on the enemy team, but it won’t just come out of nowhere. The ability will have a nice animaiton to let everyone know that it’s time to get out of dodge or get teleported to a completely different part of the map.

Thanatos is the Hand of Death from Greek mythology who’ll be able to take flight over the battlefield and bring an end to all opponents who had the misfortune of being wounded at that moment. This will, in turn, cost Thanatos a percentage of his health.

The Morrigan comes from the Celtic lore. The Phantom Queen relies on deception and clones to gain the upper hand. She can conjure duplicates of herself and even impersonate other gods, getting to wield their abilities as a nice, albeit slightly terrifying, bonus.
