Intro

Lords of the Fallen is regarded as one of the best Soulslikes that wasn’t developed by FromSoftware but it is also polarizing as many players didn’t feel like Hexworks hit the nail on the head with this one.

Whatever one’s opinion may be on the game as a whole, Hexworks did prove they can push out a fun update that benefits all the players, such as Clash of Champions, which popped up on May 30, 2024.

Clash of Champions update added two “modes” that emphasize boss fights and both can be played solo or in co-op with another player.

Crucible mode

Crucible is probably the only one of the two that feels like a proper game mode. It has the players fighting in different trials of varying difficulty, each of them featuring multiple boss fights. It is unlocked after finishing the campaign once.

There are 6 Crucibles in total with each of them featuring rewards matched to the difficulty of the challenge. For example, Crucible of Faith awards 100 of each shrine currency, 20 Umbral Scouring and a unique Tinct while Crucible of the Lords is more difficult and awards 1,000 of each shrine currency, 150 Umbral Scouring and a unique Tinct.

Echoes of Battle

Echoes of Battle is less of a “mode” and more the ability to replay boss fights. You can only fight the bosses you have defeated previously so in order to have them all available, you will need to complete all three endings first.
