Intro

One of the most iconic characters in Street Fighter, Akuma, is the next one to join the sixth mainline instalment of the series. With demonic presence comes a new look, although we’ve seen that before, but with a new game where everyone is older comes a drastically different appearance.

Akuma’s new look

Sporting grey hair, full on demonic possession and an even more ragged outfit, Akuma doesn’t look the way he did in pretty much all the Street Fighters so far.

If you ignore the grey hair, he might even remind you of Liver King, a life coach influencer that was exposed for steroid abuse in 2023, which puts a somewhat funny spin on an otherwise dark character.

For the fans of the classic look, there will be a costume that reverts his appearance although there are no details on how much it will cost just yet.

Release date and balance changes

Akuma will join Street Fighter 6 on May 22, 2024. Players who own Deluxe Edition, Ultimate Edition or Year 1 Character pass will receive him immediately, with the Year 1 owners also getting the Enma’s Hollow stage.

When Akuma drops, a major balance patch will be released which will affect all characters that were released thus far.
