Intro
Dragon’s Dogma 2 was the most anticipated March 2024 release but greedy meddling mandated the ship will switch to collision course with an iceberg filled with problems.
Mostly Negative rating on Steam
On the release day on Steam, Dragon’s Dogma 2 found itself with just 39% positive reviews out of 11,062 total. The number will undoubtedly rise over the following days but it’s hard to gauge which way the percentage will go.

On the one hand, the game has a lot of cool content and gameplay to offer but on the other, there are microtransactions, Denuvo and performance issues.
Microtransactions are easily the most deplorable issue here since they were shoehorned into a singleplayer game where they should have no place to begin with. Currently, you can buy the likes of fast travel points and resurrections which shouldn’t even be considered as an option. Not only does it cheapen the gameplay journey itself, such concepts are bound to grow more egregious in the future. Just remember that the horse armor in Oblivion was priced at $2.50 and over time “evolved” into current day “microtransactions” that cost $100.
As for Denuvo, everyone already knows and hates it. It is highly possible the performance issues are tied to the DRM but it is not excluded that CAPCOM failed miserably at optimizing the game.
Should you buy Dragon’s Dogma 2?
If microtransactions in a singleplayer game, poor frame rate and presence of Denuvo didn’t put you off, nothing will. Go ahead and grab the game. Otherwise, it would be a good idea to wait until performance is fixed. We would highly suggest not participating in any of the microtransaction nonsense either way.
