Intro

Command & Conquer is easily one of the most recognizable brands in the real-time strategy (RTS) genre which is why the fans begged EA to bring back and possibly remaster older titles for years. When Petroglyph Games swooped in, the Red Alert remasters made many people happy and given the current circumstances, it appears more could be announced soon.

Command & Conquer on Steam

For the longest time, most of the classic C&C games were not on Steam even though there were depots indicating EA wanted to bring the catalogue to the store roughly one decade ago. This all changed abruptly on March 7, 2024, when 10 games and 7 expansions made a triumphant return in the Command & Conquer Ultimate Collection.

Initially, it seemed weird that the catalogue popped up seemingly out of nowhere but Jim Vessela of Petroglyph Games clarified that this has been a concentrated effort of himself and a team of C&C enthusiasts at EA that finally bore fruit.

Dev post hinting at more C&C remasters

In the same post on Reddit, Vessela stated that the “first” Command & Conquer Remastered Collection was when he promised to push for more C&C support.

“After the launch of the first C&C Remastered Collection, I told our Community Council I would continue to try and find opportunities to support the C&C community and franchise wherever possible.” ~Jim Vessela, March 7, 2024

Since there was only one Remastered Collection so far, this is a clear hint that more are on the way. Is it certain that a new collection will be released though? Probably not since the announcement and Ultimate Collection came at the same time, meaning this could be a push to gauge how much interest additional remasters would garner among the gamers.

Considering this is a collection of great RTS titles priced at $9.88 / €9.88, it is well worth grabbing.

I genuinely hate being enthusiastic about an EA product but the love for Generals and Zero Hour make people do strange things.
