Intro
Baldur’s Gate 3 is a massive game and as such, bugs and issues are expected to be apparent since it’s nigh impossible to thoroughly test and fix things at such a scale. Gamers understand this which is why the title won the hearts of so many despite the issues it had in launch and even in subsequent patches. However, Patch 6 proved to be worse than previous iterations as it managed to have more aggravating problems than its predecessors.
6 pages of bugs and issues
You can find a list of major issues in a Google doc compiled by the community. Even glancing over it reveals multiple game-breaking problems such as Viconia permanently locking players in a dialogue loop or Kill the Goblin Leaders quest failing to complete, preventing further progress in the non-essential but still major storyline.
In total, there are 6 pages of such problems, as of February 20, 2024.
No going back
Unfortunately, there is no way to revert to Patch 5 on PC or console at the moment. In case you ran into a game-breaking issue on an Honor playthrough, you may want to crash your game to revert to a previous save which is hopefully safe. You can find the steps to crashing the game in the doc linked above.
If you really want some BG3 action but can’t wait for a better state, we highly recommend avoiding Honor mode until a more stable version is available.
It’s not all doom and gloom
While Patch 6 is the low point of the game so far, Larian has shown no indication of stopping support for its latest masterpiece any time soon. Hotfixes are likely coming soon for the worst offenders and while not officially announced, there is no reason not to believe Patch 7 is in the works.
