Intro
Dragon’s Dogma 2 made waves when it was announced the game wouldn’t run at 60 FPS on consoles and the concerns about the 30 FPS target on PC started to run rampant.
The issue was exacerbated by the recommended specs on Steam and now there is a list that suggests even high end systems can’t run the game at 60 FPS. However, some of these worries may not be warranted.
Recommended specs and target performance on Steam
- OS: Windows 10 (64 bit)/Windows 11 (64 bit)
- Processor: Intel Core i7-10700 / AMD Ryzen 5 3600X
- Memory: 16 GB RAM
- Graphics: NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2080 / AMD Radeon RX 6700
- DirectX: Version 12
- Network: Broadband Internet connection
- Additional Notes: Estimated performance: 2160i[sic]/30fps. Framerate might drop in graphics-intensive scenes. NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2080 Ti or AMD Radeon RX 6800 required to support ray tracing.
Additional notes’ wording clearly mentions a 30 FPS target but keep in mind that RTX 2080 and RX 6700 are not exactly meant to run newer games at 4K60.
There is also no mention of what graphics settings will be available in the game, meaning it’s theoretically possible we will be able to get better performance with certain setups.
High end PCs can’t run Dragon’s Dogma at 60 FPS?
Recently, a supposed image of Dragon’s Dogma 2 detailed system requirements started popping up on social media, hinting that even systems with RTX 4080 / AMD 7900 XT will be locked to 30 FPS.

This image is contradictory to the system requirements on Steam as it suggests these GPUs will be targeting 4K30 while the aforementioned specs have RTX 2080 and RX 6700 in the same performance bracket.
Additionally, the image does not exist on Dragon’s Dogma 2 website even though its design suggests that’s where one is supposed to find it.
On top of it all, the 1440p with 30 FPS bracket is called “Pefomance”, with an obvious typo, suggesting this image is not legitimate. Capcom did make a typo in the Steam system requirements as well though, writing “2160i” instead of “2160p” so this evidence remains somewhat dubious.
Can high end PCs run it at 60+ FPS?
Judging from the posted Steam specs, high end PCs should be able to run Dragon’s Dogma 2 at 60 FPS without a hitch. The only reality where it runs at 30 FPS is if Capcom artificially lock the frame rate, which is not beyond them.
To be sure, we would highly suggest you avoid preordering and wait for reviews to come out.
