What’s better than a scam game? Another game from the same scam artists.
The Day Before background
Just in case you are by some miracle not aware of what The Day Before is, it is the biggest scam in video gaming that happened in 2023 although it had been in the works for years, with the announcement trailer having happened in January 2021.
Gamers picked up on the red flags rather quickly and soon it became widespread knowledge that Fntastic, the developers in question, don’t actually have a game on their hands since all the materials shown were pre-rendered videos.
After significant pressure from the gaming community and negative coverage, an asset flip that looked nothing like the trailers was released on December 7, 2023, it got annihilated by reviews from anyone that touched it, Steam issued no-questions-asked refunds and Fntastic soon announced closure. They also noted server shutdown for the game was scheduled for January 22, 2024.
New project from head people at Fntastic
Months in advance of The Day Before’s chance to crash and burn, the head honchos of Fntastic already started seeding the idea of a mobile game that would come at a later date. Their first targets were people associated with The Day Before project.
This is according to CD Action, a Polish gaming website with contacts among the former Fntastic employees, one of whom revealed the aforementioned info and apparently a lot more, which is scheduled to air on January 22, 2024.
Most former employees refused
Gotovtsev brothers, the aforementioned head honchos, apparently asked former Fntastic employees to come work on the new project as well, after they got fired. Most refused but there are apparently a few who accepted the offer.
Other than that, not much info is known at the moment but it will be published on Monday, January 22, 2024.
