Electronic Arts (EA) has teamed up with Marvel to bring the fans a bushel of games focused on Eath’s mightiest heroes.

Today, EA officially announced that a Black Panther game is in development. The company is also working on an Iron Man title. September 2022 brought news of a long-term partnership between Marvel and EA, two juggernauts of the entertainment industry.

Like the movie franchise, Iron Man’s game is set to get the ball rolling in EA’s series.

Additionally, we know that at least one more Marvel game is currently under construction at EA. Could Black Widow be getting her flagship video game before the boys of Marvel strut their Vibranium stuff on PCs and consoles?

Black Panther’s development has been entrusted to Cliffhanger Games, the new triple-A development studio based in Seattle.

Kevin Stephens, of Monolith Productions, will be the one to lead the folks of Cliffhanger on the adventure that is video game development.

Our mission is to build an expansive and reactive world that empowers players to experience what it is like to take on the mantle of Wakanda’s protector, the Black Panther.

EA’s official press release

Stephens’ rag-tag group already features leaders who worked on Middle-earth: Shadow of Mordor, along with veterans of top franchises including Halo Infinite, God of War, Call of Duty, and many other fan favorites.

It’s still too early to tell, but it’s highly unlikely that the games will feature Shadow of War’s Nemesis system, thanks to Warner Bros’ patent. However, the patent on the Nemesis system expires in 2035, so if we’re lucky and the games prove to be as successful as Marvel’s movie franchise, we might still get a game with evolving NPCs.

EA’s announcement also includes a clever invitation to everyone interested in making video games. Much like their upcoming game, the Cliffhanger team is also under construction and they are looking for skilled people with unique perspectives and voices to bring Wacanda’s protector to the fans.
