As Paradox Interactive’s 2023 announcement show predicted, so it must come to pass.

A bunch of the announced titles, expansions, and DLC packs from the show have already spent some time in the wild, but now it’s time for Paradox’s tentpole grand strategy game to take the players on an even deeper adventure with new mission trees, government reforms, and more.

Europa Universalis IV’s Domination expansion is coming next month, expected to be hitting the proverbial shelves on 18 April 2023. A major update to the game will also arrive alongside the Domination DLC. The update will be free for all Europa Universalis IV players.

The premium add-on to the vanilla EUIV experience will expand the experience with new historical flavor and decisions, new mission trees, historical government reforms, estate challenges, and units.

Europa Universalis IV: Domination – DLC features

Europa Universalis IV: Domination includes new national mission trees and features for the following:

• The Ottoman Empire: A revised conquest tree with new rewards for pushing Ottoman dominance. The players will get rewards for accomplishing certain tasks, including expansion through the new Eyalet system, new internal changes, such as the new Janissary estate, the new Ottoman Decadence mechanic, and the ‘Ottoman Power Struggle’ disaster.
• China: Different mission trees for the Han Ming and invader empires like the Qing will be added. The players will be able to choose between Expansion or Inward Perfection. On top of this, they will have to counter the power of the Eunuchs to build a more stable empire.
• Japan: Uniting Japan and dealing with the power of the Shogun and the independent Daimyos will have to go hand in hand. Players can choose to open the country to foreign influence which comes with its own set of challenges or keep it isolated, all the while deciding upon different paths of expansion and reform.
• Russia: A Great Empire is just waiting to emerge from under the Tatar heel. Choosing Peter’s reforms will unlock options to modernize the state. The custom mission tree and game mechanics themselves will change and evolve as your game progresses. Cossacks and Streltsy, who can be used to expand the Empire to East and West, will also be at the players’ disposal.
• Spain: Castile and Aragon have brand new, expanded, mission trees. There will be different paths for you to take, but they all lead to forming Spain as a country, the new ‘System of Councils’ government, and decisions about the Army and Navy to get the mighty Tercios and Spanish Armada.
• France: Fight the end of the Hundred Years War, centralize France into an absolute monarchy while dealing with the Wars of Religion. Once that’s settled, you can expand into Italy and the Holy Roman Empire, and lead the Revolution through an expanded mission tree.
• Great Britain: Separate paths for either a British Empire or an Angevin Britain await, as well as more in-depth internal gameplay, with unique features for the English Parliament and changes to the English Civil War disaster.
• Minor nations got various mission changes, new government mechanics, and expanded flavors for Prussia, Portugal, and Korea.

The Domination DLC also comes with some fresh art and new music, all nestled in a menu of new historical detail, with estates, reforms, special units and events for the leading powers.
