What an overachiever!
Elden Ring’s developers and players have much to celebrate this week, as the game just recently surpassed the 20 million units sold milestone, mere days before its very first year out in the wild.
Bandai Namco and FromSoftware recently released a statement announcing that the “co-developed action RPG “ELDEN RING” has sold more than 20 million units worldwide.”
The announcement stipulates that the “20 million” figure was derived from the distribution information for the Elden Ring box version and the sales figures for the downloadable versions.
It’s no surprise that Elden Ring got to celebrate the 20 million units sold achievement in the same week as it marks its first anniversary when we look at the myriad of fan-created content and videos of people playing the impressive title in some astonishing ways.
Our favorites will always be the videos of dedicated players defeating both Malenia, Blade of Miquella, and Malenia, Goddess of Rot, their avatars wearing little more than a loincloth and a big chamberpot on their heads.
That optional boss aside, Elden Ring has, deservedly, captured the hearts and souls of fans all over the globe and we’re happy that they can all celebrate its latest accomplishment in its birthday week.
Elden Ring was released on 25 February 2022. The game is now available for PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, PC, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
