Bring them back!

One of Overwatch’s greatest selling points, to me at least, were its colorful and varied maps. The players knew which maps were available to them in certain modes, and we always knew that we had access to everything Overwatch has in store for us.

That was until someone decided to give us a map pool and restrict access to certain “playgrounds” for entire seasons.

All this pool stuff is on its way out, thankfully, and we’ll finally say good riddance to the practice when Overwatch 2’s Season 4 rolls around later this year.

Map pool in Overwatch 2 – Season 3

Control maps:
  • Antarctic Peninsula – a whole new map available in Season 3
  • Ilios
  • Lijiang Tower
  • Nepal
  • Oasis
Push maps:
  • New Queen Street
  • Colosseo – The only change to the map is that we’ll play on it at night.
  • Esperanca

Escort maps:
  • Circuit Royal – A new day has dawned over this map in Season 3.
  • Dorado
  • Havana – Overwatch 1 players will remember this map was set during the day. Overwatch 2 players will get to know Havana at night.
  • Junkertown
  • Rialto
  • Shambali Monastery
Hybrid maps:
  • Blizzard World
  • King’s Row
  • Midtown
  • Numbani – another map from Overwatch 1 we had yet to see in the new game.
  • Paraiso

Maps that didn’t make the cut in Season 3

Overwatch 2 players will have to wait for Season 4 to play these maps once again.

Control maps:
  • Busan
Escort:
  • Watchpoint Gibraltar
  • Route 66
Hybrid:
  • Eichenwalde
  • Hollywood

No changes were made to the Push map pool.

This is the second season in a row that we don’t get to run around Watchpoint Gibraltar and we’ll also have to wait another two months until we hear the executive berating us from the limo on Hollywood.
