Square Enix’s decision to not send out Forspoken PC review codes won’t save it from flopping.
It has been mere hours since Forspoken hit Steam, Epic Games, and Microsoft Store and it’s not looking very good. For one, Steam reviews of the game are (at the time of writing) standing at “Mixed”, with a good chance to fall to “Negative” if they drop by just 1%.
This fall from proverbial grace can be traced back to the super-inflated “recommended specs” for the game that only promised 1440p and 30fps to the people with seriously overpowered rigs who’ve also gotten used to 4k performances that hit a minimum of 60fps on a bad day.
PC players seldom stand for bad optimization, especially when they know what their machines are capable of, and the Steam reviews just stand to prove it.
The dialogue, banter, writing, and voice acting may not be everyone’s cup of tea, but we would settle for a smooth experience that scratches that open-world parkour itch we’ve been having for months at the mention of “Forspoken”. Still, eight hours’ worth of a great gaming experience wouldn’t send anyone on the tirade we’re experiencing now.
