GTA Online players have been dealing with the rising tide of hacker threats for a couple of days now, and not even the game’s singleplayer mode is safe from the attacks.
Reports of attacks on players who were in online private sessions or in the “offline” singleplayer are rampant and the best way to protect the work you’ve put into the game is not to go near its launcher for a couple of days: no matter if you were looking to play online or off.
GTA V’s online servers are home to thousands of players each day, but the end of the last work week brought news of dangerous exploits that those with the appropriate know-how could turn into a straight-up bad time for a bunch of players. The hackers have been doing exactly that, going after players’ accounts to alter them and ban them from playing ever again.

The fact that these exploits allow the hackers to corrupt player accounts and forever ban them from the game is especially dangerous for those who’ve sunk thousands of in-game hours into life on the streets of Los Santos. All that work and grind could go up in flames in a blink of an eye.
That said, Rockstar’s employees are now back in their offices so we believe that they are hard at work, rummaging through code and figuring out how to patch the exploits and make the streets of GTA V safe(er) once again.
