With Christmas and Boxing Day out of the way, we find ourselves at the tail-end of one of the most fun game giveaways in recent memory.

This certainly isn’t Epic Games Store’s first free game extravaganza but it was the most engaging as we didn’t merely sit around waiting for the latest game to become available – we could speculate about the upcoming title based on the clues on the wrapping paper. That said, here are the two games coming up on the 27 and 28 December 2022:

EGS free game – 27 December 2022

Drum roll please, we have Severed Steel coming up in just a couple of hours. The game is a fluid shoot-em-up with gorgeous graphics and levels susceptible to complete and utter annihilation.

On top of being easy on the eyes, Severed Steel is also easy on your PC, with recommended system requirements looking a bit like this:

• 64-bit processor and operating system
• OS: Windows 10
• Processor: Dual Core
• Memory: 8 GB RAM
• Graphics: NVIDIA 1050 or equivalent

EGS free game – 28 December 2022

Mortal Shell is the penultimate free game we’ll be able to claim this holiday season. Cold Symmetry’s 2021 offering looks incredible and we can’t wait to possess some of its deathly carapaces ourselves and go on a rampage of calculated parries, blocks, and blows.
