Geoff Keighley’s The Game Awards has always been the perfect stage for big publishers and developers to showcase their upcoming projects and get the award show’s many spectators talking about them as soon as possible. Now, even the lead-up to the big night spawns news of its own, in the form of rumored content projected to make an appearance.
One such piece that broke off the rumor mill is the tweet sent out by Tyler McVicker, a known passionate gamer, saying:
I have it on very good authority that Cyberpunk Phantom Liberty will be shown off, so that’s exciting nonetheless.

CDPR has been firing on all cylinders lately, releasing The Witcher 3 next-gen update, announcing The Witcher remake, as well as a whole new Witcher trilogy, and adding fresh content to Cyberpunk 2077 in the form of Phantom Liberty DLC.
We don’t have much information about Cyberpunk 2077’s upcoming batch of content (such as a concrete release date), but that may change as soon as tomorrow, December 9, 2022, when The Game Awards’ stage springs to life once more. Until then, here’s what we know about Phantom Liberty today:
- Phantom Liberty DLC will not be free, instead, it will be a paid bundle of new content available to players who already own the base game.
- Described as a “spy-thriller”, Phantom Liberty will unlock a never-before-seen corner of the Night City, putting Keanu Reeves in Johnny Silverhand’s shoes once more.
- CDPR stated in the past that Phantom Liberty DLC is the only planned expansion for Cyberpunk 2077. This fact may very well change if the upcoming content gets a decent enough reception, as the devs did have roaring success with The Witcher 3 DLCs in the past.
